Question 1

What is your turnaround time?

From the day you approve your proof — and assuming your order is paid in full — there is a 5–7 business day turnaround on most orders.

Question 2

Can I pay my balance upon receipt of my order?

Accepted Answer

Orders must be paid in full before they are printed and shipped. We require a 50% deposit upon starting any order.

Question 3

How long until I receive my first proof?

Accepted Answer

Depending on whether it is a new job or changes on a job we already have on file, and also depending on how busy we are, it can be up to 2–4 days until you receive an initial first proof. After the first proof, there is usually no more than 24 hours between receiving your changes and sending you a revision.

How can I send you changes on a proof?

We accept changes via email only. They should be clearly typed, stating the section and specifically the change. You may also clearly write your changes, scan them, and email them to us. If these methods don't work for you, contact our team for further assistance.

Question 5

If I ordered 25,000 menus, can I split the order between two locations?

No — this would be considered two different orders. Each order file is printed by itself; we never gang-run orders.

Why is there no email address listed on your website?

Accepted Answer

We no longer list an email address on our website in order to keep our workflow moving for our customers. You can call or text us at 646-721-1569 from 10am–10pm Eastern Standard Time, 7 days a week. We will gladly text you our email address once you contact us.

How can I contact the designer once I place my order?

Accepted Answer

Within 24 hours of receiving your deposit, you will be contacted by someone from our design department via email and text to begin work on your menu.

Can you recreate my current menu?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we can — however we may not be able to use the exact art and images that you currently have. We will do our best to come as close as possible.

How long will it take to design my menu?

Accepted Answer

Our average turnaround time to receive a first proof is 3–5 business days. When you send changes to the initial proof, we try to get back to you within 24 hours.

Can I use my own photos on my menu design?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our team of designers will check any art or images you provide. If it is a good print resolution and you have the rights to use it, we will put it into your design.

What does my free basic design include?

Accepted Answer

We offer free design on some of our products. We will work closely with you to determine what style menu you would like, and then based on the information you provide we will set up your proof. With free design, we require you to provide your menu text, changes, and logo.

Can I provide my own menu files, ready for print?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but they have to be set up to our specifications. We will send you our design specs. We require a high-resolution PDF of each side of your menu. We will provide you with the details upon ordering.

Do you give me the files so I can make my own future changes?

Accepted Answer

Takeout Printing will keep your menu design on file and hold onto it for future printing needs. We are happy to help you with anything you may need regarding your menu, logo, and design. Call us for more details.

Question 14

What if I don't have a logo?

Accepted Answer

You have two options: (1) We will design a logo using text only — just the name of your restaurant — and make it stand out with color and effects. This is included in your free basic design. (2) If you would like a full new logo design to use in all of your print and web media, our designers will work with you to create a fresh new look. There is a fee for this — please call for details.

What is EDDM®?

EDDM® stands for Every Door Direct Mail — a direct mailing program created by the United States Postal Service. It allows you to target specific carrier routes at a discounted mail rate, without the need for mailing lists, addressing services, tabs, or permits. It lets you saturate the market and promote to every household and business in the area you choose.

What is a carrier route?

A carrier route is a group of addresses that receive the same USPS code, allowing for more efficient mail delivery. A zip code may be comprised of several carrier routes.

How much does the EDDM® mail program cost?

Accepted Answer

The current postage rate is less than 26 cents per piece (as of July 2026). Many other printing companies charge for the EDDM setup service — Takeout Printing does not. We custom design, print, and ship your menus to your restaurant. You drop them off locally and pay only the 26-cent postage, saving you thousands of dollars a year.

What size does my mailing have to be to qualify for EDDM®?

To qualify for EDDM rates, your mailer must exceed 6.125 inches high OR 10.5 inches long, or have a thickness greater than 0.25 inches. Maximum size is 12 inches high by 15 inches long. Minimum thickness is 0.007 inches (approximately 7pt paper stock), up to a maximum of 0.75 inches. The piece must be rectangular with 90-degree square corners or rounded corners not exceeding a 0.125-inch radius.

What are the addressing and indicia requirements?

Instead of a name or specific street address, use the generic address block: 'Local Postal Customer.' A printed EDDM indicia must be placed in the upper-right corner and must include the text ECRWSS (Extended Carrier Route Walking Sequence Saturation), followed by postage paid information. It must be printed directly on the piece in an easy-to-read font at least 4-point in size — it cannot be handwritten, a sticker, or stamped.

Are there volume limits or bundling requirements?

You must mail at least 200 mailpieces, and no more than 5,000 pieces per ZIP code per day when using EDDM Retail. Mailers must be grouped into bundles of 50 or 100 pieces, and each bundle must have a USPS facing slip attached indicating the route and piece count. We offer bundling services at an extra charge on certain print jobs — please ask when ordering.

Question 21

Do I need a bulk mail permit for EDDM Retail?

Accepted Answer

No — EDDM Retail does not require a standard bulk mail postage permit. It is free to any business. We have an in-house certified USPS EDDM specialist who works closely with every takeout menu order.

What type of shipping services do you use?

Accepted Answer

We use UPS Ground for most orders. On larger shipments we use LTL freight. Shipping costs change daily — please call or text us for the most up-to-date pricing at 646-721-1569.

Question 23

What is liftgate service?

Accepted Answer

With liftgate service, the driver will take the freight off the truck and leave it curbside. This is best for customers who do not have a forklift or other means of unloading freight.

Question 24

What is inside delivery?

Accepted Answer

With inside delivery, the driver will take the freight off the truck and bring it into your place of business, as long as there are no stairs involved. They will not unpack the freight.

Can I use my own shipping account?

Accepted Answer

No — at this time we do not offer this service. You must ship using Takeout Printing's shipping account. We can blind ship for customers if needed.
