How Long Does It Take to Print Takeout Menus?

From the day you approve your proof to the day menus reach your door.

When you order menus, the real question is not just what they cost — it is when they will be in your hands. A new pizza shop opening next month, a Thai restaurant reprinting before the busy season, a diner that just ran out of menus: all of them need a date they can plan around. Here it is, in plain terms. Most orders take 5 to 7 business days to print once you approve your proof and your order is paid in full, and then the menus ship to your restaurant. The rest of this article walks through each step, what can slow it down, and how to keep your order moving fast.

The short answer

Most orders take 5 to 7 business days to print. That clock starts the day you approve your proof, and it assumes your order is paid in full. Once printing is done, the menus ship to your restaurant. So if you approve your proof on a Monday, most orders are printed by the next Monday or Wednesday, and then on their way to you. That is the normal pace for a standard menu order — a pizzeria, a BBQ joint, a sushi restaurant, all the same. If your job is unusual in size or shape, the team will tell you up front if the timing is different, so you are never left guessing.

The first proof, and how revisions work

Before anything prints, you see a proof — a preview of your menu exactly as it will look. For a new job or for changes to a job already on file, your first proof can take up to 2–4 days. For design work, the first proof takes 3–5 business days. After that first proof, revisions are quick: there is usually no more than 24 hours between you sending changes and getting a revised proof back. That fast back-and-forth is what keeps most jobs on schedule. We work on a first come, first served basis, so the quicker we get your changes, the quicker we get you your next proof. The proof step is also your safety net — nothing prints until you approve it, so mistakes get caught on screen, not on your final menus.

What can slow it down

Three things slow orders down, and all three are in the owner's hands. First, waiting on the pieces: menu text, a logo, or your own food photos that arrive late hold up the whole job, because design cannot start without them. Second, changes after approval — once you approve a proof and the job moves to print, new changes mean starting over & may not be stopped on time. So , we highly suggest to look over your final proof before you send it to print. Third, an unpaid balance. Orders must be paid in full before they are printed and shipped, and a 50% deposit is required to start any order. If the balance is still open when the proof is approved, printing waits. None of these are hard to avoid — they just need a little planning before you call.

Rush options

Sometimes you need menus faster than the normal pace — a restaurant opening moved up, a big catering weekend, or a menu that ran out sooner than expected. Rush options may be available. The only way to know is to ask when you call: tell the team when you need the menus and they will say plainly whether a rush is possible for your job and what it takes. Do not assume a rush is or is not possible — ask early, because a rush agreed on day one is far easier than one requested the day before you need the menus. Even with a rush, the proof step still comes first: you still approve the menu before it prints.

How to keep it fast

The fastest orders all look the same. Send everything at once: your full menu items, your logo, and any photos you want used, in the very first message. Answer proof emails quickly — the 24-hour revision pace only helps if you reply the same day. And approve once, approve right: read the proof carefully, check every price and spelling, and send all your changes in one clear email. A restaurant that sends everything up front and approves the proof in one round gets menus in hand weeks sooner than one that sends items a few at a time. Speed is mostly about being ready, not about hurrying the printer.
